How Do You Celebrate Spirited Away’s 15th Anniversary? With its Magical Clothing Line!

Recently, Studio Ghibly’s co-founder, Hayao Miyazaki, has announced that he’s coming out of retirement to finish his 20-year-old project called Boro the Caterpillar. Anime fans and movie buffs around the world rejoiced to this news as they will be able to watch another exciting product from the famed director. Miyazaki who is known for his distinctive and visionary style, has a few award-winning movies to his name. One of it is the super-successful Spirited Away.

Spirited Away tells the tale of 10-year-old Chihiro and her parents who stumbles across a dodgy-looking abandoned theme park. After entering the park, her parents were magically turned into pigs. She then discovers that the theme park is actually a resort for supernatural beings. After meeting with Haku, a white dragon-esque looking creature and also known as the Spirit of the Kohaku River, she learns that in order to free herself and turn her parents back into human beings, she must work at the unearthly realm.

The movie has gained critical acclaim worldwide and also received the coveted gold statue Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Spirited Away celebrated its 15^th anniversary this year after the movie was first released in Japan in July 2001. Here’s the trailer to refresh your memory on Spirited Away’s mythical world.

The celebration continues with a special screening of Spirited Away in theatres this December. The sad news though, the special 15-year anniversary movie will only be aired in the States. Boohoo!
