Efforts to locate the boy seemed bleak as days passed by but with the power of social media and kind-hearted Malaysians, Ayrill was found at a bus stop in Ampang on Saturday evening by his friend’s brother. Mohd Ismail Abdullah, 15, found Ayrill in a frail state at around 7.30pm. Ayrill’s father, Noor Shahril Yusmariza was grateful that his son had been found and thanked the teenager.

Police investigations revealed that Ayrill had boarded a Rapid KL bus to Pudu to meet a friend known as Ari, 13, in Chow Kit. He stayed at the home for the homeless for the next few days and was reluctant to return home because “he enjoyed getting free food from the public every night.” Another reason he fled home was because he was afraid of the scolding he might get from his father.
Cheras District Police chief ACP Chong Kok Sin told Bernama that the 10-year-old boy had no money left to be spent and boarded the free Go-KL bus to get to his mother's house. Unfortunately, he didn’t know the way and ended up getting lost until he was eventually found. It was unclear when he boarded the free bus. Ayrill has been taken for a medical checkup and reports have emerged that he appears to be in a healthy state.
