They will keep close watch on malpractices such as misappropriation, corruption and abuse of power, it says.
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has set up special monitoring units to keep a close watch on malpractices such as misappropriation, corruption and abuse of power at high, medium and low-risk government agencies.
In a statement today, the MACC said Certified Integrity Officers with MACC would be replaced by Administrative and Diplomatic Officers (PTD) in integrity units of government agencies in line with the government’s decision to set up the Department of National Integrity and Good Governance (JITN) recently.
“In line with the preventive functions under the MACC Act, the commission will continue to ensure the governance of government agencies is free from embezzlement, corruption and abuse of power,” said the statement.
The MACC also pointed out that the establishment of JITN would not affect the commission’s role in curbing graft in the public sector.
