KOTA KINABALU: A Mount Kinabalu climber from Selangor died after he got separated from his group and went missing while coming down from the summit today.
Police said the cause of death was expected to be known tomorrow after a post-mortem.
An advisory from the Fire and Rescue Department said they had received an alert from the staff of Sabah Parks that Nazri Omar, 48, had gone missing at Km8 of the mountain trail.
A search and rescue team, consisting of mountain guides and staff from the department and Sabah Parks, was dispatched to search for Nazri.
Nazri was later found unconscious by a guide before he was carried down on a stretcher to the base station.
A doctor then confirmed that Nazri was dead before his body was taken to the police station.
Ranau police chief DSP Farhan Lee told FMT Nazri’s body had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here for a post-mortem.
