In the video clips of him riding his motorbike, the man appears oblivious or indifferent to the attention he is getting.
The Star reported Hilir Perak district police chief Asst Comm Mohd Marzhuki Mohd Mokhtar as saying that no reports had been lodged, despite at least three video clips of the incident having been circulated in social media.
“The police are, however, looking for the man,” he said.
In one of the clips, the man is seen having calmly stopped his motorbike at a busy traffic-light junction beside other waiting vehicles.
In another clip, he is seen casually veering from one road to another and weaving past cars in town, and in a third clip shows him riding straight along a road with few other vehicles obstructing his way.
In all the videos he appeared to be either oblivious or indifferent to the attention he was getting.
According to The Star, the incident was believed to have occurred this afternoon, with one of the videos uploaded on social media at 1pm.
This is at least the sixth time an incident of public nudity has been reported in the country in the last few years.
In September last year the video of a naked man walking near a market in Bukit Mertajam while stopping intermittently to kneel on the ground in worship, also went viral on social media.
Police detained 39 male participants, aged between 19 and 23 in January last year for allegedly committing obscene acts in a public place by removing all their clothing when participating in a motivational programme at a resort in Bentong.
Prior to that, in December 2016, a man thought to be mentally unstable caused a stir in a popular shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur when he walked about in the buff.
In May 2015, a group of foreign tourists had removed their clothes when they arrived at the peak of Mount Kinabalu, provoking intense condemnation from Sabahans who view the mountain as sacred.
The next month, the Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court imposed a jail sentence of three days on four of the tourists and fined them RM5,000 or three months’ imprisonment for committing obscene acts atop the mountain.
And in August 2014, a video clip and photographs showing some 18 people participating in a “Penang Nude Sports Game” held at a beach in the Penang National Park in May created an uproar when they became viral.
