According to a report by the New Straits Times, the digital gaming industry will soon be adopted in our educational systems as a new scope to “create a conducive digital ecosystem.” Wow, what a time to be alive! Imagine telling that to your parents or teachers back when you were still in school.
The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) will visit schools to help explain and educate students on the gaming industry’s potential and lucrative job opportunities which in turn will help boost our economy.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak told the English daily that “All this while, we see gaming as not having any economic value and just a form of entertainment.”
“(But now) If we see it from another perspective, it can create job opportunities for our future generations. After all, our future is all about digital economy.”
MDEC’s chief executive officer Datuk Yasmin Mahmood also admitted that in this digital era, youngsters nowadays may no longer be interested or heavily rely on “traditional jobs” that their parents have.
“The young generations are very creative and we, as adults, should support their ideas. The future job opportunities are already depending on digital platform,” she added.
Well, we wish we could go back to school and finally have a favourite subject but at least there’s a lot of positive progress going on in the e-sports industry in our country. Way to go, Malaysia!
