After making a name acting in musicals (Hairspray), chick flicks (The Lucky One, New Year's Eve), comedies (17 Again, Dirty Grandpa, Neighbors) and most recently, The Greatest Showman, his next project will showcase a darker side of his that has never been seen before.
The 30-year-old actor teased a photo from the set of an upcoming psychological thriller, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile on his Instagram.
The movie title alone sends shivers down your spine because it tells the true story of American serial killer Ted Bundy, and Efron will be playing the heartless character himself.
The black and white picture above is behind-the-scenes shot of the film crew recreating the mug shot when Bundy was arrested in 1975.
Bundy's story is arguably one of the most notorious cases in the history of crime in the United States after he confessed to the murder and assault of at least 30 young women and girls during the 1970s.
Apparently, the actual number of victims will most likely remain unknown forever and could be a lot more than the amount to which he confessed.
Some of you may be wondering why would Zac Efron be playing a real life serial killer, he's too handsome for such a horrible character!
But we've got news for you, Ted Bundy was actually known to be very good-looking in person. His young female victims even identified him as handsome and charismatic, which was probably why he was able to charm them for his own evil ways.
According to CNN, Extremely Wicked will follow the serial killer's terrifying murders from his longtime girlfriend's perspective, Liz who will be played by Lily Collins.
Many fans also expressed their excitement when they heard about Efron's upcoming role.
Why are people complaining that Zac Efron is "too attractive" to play Ted Bundy? He's supposed to be attractive and charming, that's literally how he lured his victims. We get it, y'all know anything

I’m genuinely shocked by @ZacEfron and his versatility and time commitment as an actor. From The Greatest Showman to The Disaster Artist and now onto the Ted Bundy biopic, his projects never end.
