Selangor CID chief says Farid would be charged with lodging a false report relating to a drug case he is facing.
SHAH ALAM: Actor and film director Farid Kamil will be charged at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court on Friday for lodging a false report relating to a drug case he is facing.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said Farid, whose real name is Farid Kamil Zahari, 37, would be charged under Section 192 of the Penal Code.
“The case was referred to the Selangor Legal Adviser which instructed that he be charged under Section 192 of the Penal Code for the offence of fabricating false evidence,” he said after the monthly gathering of the Selangor police contingent.
On Feb 4, Farid had lodged a police report claiming three friends had spiked his drink with drugs, causing him to become violent.
However, at a press conference held in Shah Alam several days later, he claimed that two individuals, who were sought by police to help in the investigation into his case, were not the people he mentioned.
He said the names and photos of the two individuals were handed over to the police when the report was made, but the investigations were conducted on different people.
On Jan 16, Farid, who is the husband of popular local actress Diana Danielle, pleaded not guilty to four charges, including voluntarily causing hurt, using criminal force and disorderly conduct by uttering improper words at the Kota Damansara police station.
On Jan 25, he also pleaded not guilty to using the drug THC.
