HKL's pathology department does test on second urine sample taken on the night of a raid on a nightclub.
PETALING JAYA: A negative drugs test has resulted in the police giving the all-clear to Umno divisional leader Rizalman Mokhtar who had been faced with suspicions of drug abuse after police and anti-corruption officers raided a nightclub on Monday.
“There will be no further action on the matter,” Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lajim said in a statement today. He denied allegations that Rizalman had been set up.
An initial drug test after the raid had shown a positive result but police said a second urine sample taken the same night had been sent to be tested by Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s pathology unit.
“The results from HKL’s pathology department shows his urine sample tested negative.”
However, police were still awaiting results of tests on urine samples of nine of Rizalman’s friends.
He said police had made a special request to the hospital to expedite the second testing of Rizalman’s urine sample “seeing that this case had attracted a lot of attention, involving a politician”. Rizalman is head of Bandar Tun Razak Umno division.
The urine sample given to HKL was the same taken at the raid on the DeVegas club in Jalan Imbi.
“The investigating officer from the Dang Wang district police headquarters sent us Rizalman’s urine sample which had been used for the initial test,” he said, adding that the police had handled the whole matter professionally.
Second tests were being conducted on the urine samples of nine of Rizalman’s friends caught in the raid, which was conducted by police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
He said the police have already notified Rizalman of the findings by the HKL pathology lab.
