The Ruler reminded people not to easily believe fake news on the internet or social media aimed at creating tension between the palace and the state or federal governments.
SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today expressed disappointment over a viral social media message that he had attempted to influence the Yang di-Pertuan Agong over the appointment of the new prime minister following yesterday’s general election.
Mohamad Munir Bani, the private secretary to the Sultan, said the Ruler reminded the people not to easily believe fake news on the internet or social media aimed at creating tension between the palace and the state or federal governments and undermining harmony among the people.
Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad is scheduled to be sworn in as the seventh prime minister of Malaysia at Istana Negara today.
Mahathir told a press conference earlier today that Pakatan Harapan had secured the support of 135 MPs, including from Parti Warisan Sabah, to be eligible to form the new government.
A total of 222 parliamentary seats were contested in the 14th general election yesterday.
