Dr M says ‘hidden hands’ behind PPBM members’ complaints to RoS

The PPBM chairman says there is 'plan B', and also a 'plan C', should RoS reject Pakatan Harapan's registration.

Mahathir-ROSPUTRAJAYA: PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad today alleged an attempt to sabotage the party, following mass reports by 400 members to the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

“The reports apparently have similar content and that makes them dubious,” said Mahathir.

“We don’t know who is doing this, but we suspect it is the government’s doing. The Najib administration,” he added, referring to Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Mahathir also questioned the complaints against his party, including media statements by the RoS on members’ unhappiness over PPBM’s recent annual general meeting (AGM).

“This is what we heard from what the RoS said in the media,” he told reporters at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here.

Mahathir warned PPBM’s allies in Pakatan Harapan (PH) – PKR, DAP and Amanah – to prepare for the possibility that RoS would reject the coalition’s application.

“Until now, the RoS has not acknowledged PH’s application nor has it responded to numerous enquiries made on the status of said application.

“They have only indicated indirectly that there are problems with DAP and PPBM. Previously it was PH’s logo, which we have corrected,” he said.

DAP today said RoS had sent a letter giving its approval for the party’s top leadership line-up.

Gobind Singh Deo, who also heads PH’s legal bureau, said RoS would now have to approve PPBM’s AGM held last December.

Asked if PH had a contingency plan, Mahathir said it has a ‘plan B’ and ‘plan C’.

RoS has said it will investigate the 400 complaints received by the department on PPBM’s first AGM.

RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim said the investigations would be thorough and time-consuming.
