Tun Dr Mahathir Just Made These Items Look Cool Again

Tun Dr Mahathir Just Made These Items Look Cool Again
We're only a little over one week into Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's return as Malaysia's 7th Prime Minister and he is already making more headlines than any Hollywood celebrity.

The entire country has been glued to the news in the past few days, dare we say, more than we've ever been before. Some of us haven't even touched Netflix for more than a week!

Amidst all the political news (because the 92-year-old doesn't seem to be slowing down), there are also a couple of things that placed Dr Mahathir in the spotlight recently, things that you probably didn't pay attention to 10 days ago.

Social media is a powerful advertising tool, especially when you have people with too much time on their hands analysing every word, photo and video put out on the internet.

Interestingly, a few people spotted some common items that Dr Mahathir appeared to be loyal to, and we have a small feeling that these things are already flying off the shelves.

Dr Mahathir's favourite pen was first spotted by Twitter user, @SyedAkramin.

No matter where he went, he was always seen with a black pen clipped to his shirt.

The pen sticks out like a sore thumb.
Just like his loving wife, Tun M can't leave the house without his pen.
You can even see various pictures of him writing notes or signing documents with the exact same pen.

Tun M once said, "the pen is mightier than the sword".

And looks like he also used the same pen when he was being sworn in as our new Prime Minister!

A loyal companion.
After further inspection and speculation, some talented netizens realised that the pen turns out to be a Pilot Ball Liner, a Japanese brand that many Malaysians still use till today, and maybe even more after Tun M's unintentional endorsement!

Some of us don't even remember how it feels like to hold a pen now.

Following Dr Mahathir's appointment, many people showed concern about his health because assuming such an important role and responsibility as a nonagenarian could take a toll on him.

When another Twitter user, @richardrichli shared a photo of Tun M and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah enjoying a simple meal at home, Malaysians were relieved.

Please get more rest, Tun M.
However, besides the humble portion of rice and dishes taken by the husband and wife, some noticed what looked like a bottle of supplements next to Dr Mahathir.

Netizens have got eyes like tiger.
Many Malaysians immediately recognised it as a dietary supplement from the brand Berocca.

This supplement is specially formulated with a combination of soluble vitamins B and C in high dosage. It also contains essential minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and zinc.

Is this the fountain of youth that we've been searching for our whole lives?
Berocca is advertised as a multivitamin to help maintain a healthy body, reduce tiredness, improve mental performance and physical stamina while coping with a demanding lifestyle.

Naturally, netizens saw this supplement as Tun M's "secret to longevity".

Now before you rush straight to the pharmacy to buy a bottle of Berocca, make sure you read up everything you need to know about the supplement because it may not be suitable for everyone!

The latest sensation that hit the internet was a photo of Dr Mahathir looking very comfortable barefoot, with a pair of sandals sitting next to his feet.

As shared by Instagram user @azranshah, our PM became an overnight fashionista thanks to a simple pair of Bata.

Maybe his phone will be next.
Of course, Bata Malaysia didn't hesitate to promote the sandals on Facebook shortly after the news broke.

Talk about seizing the moment.
Wonder if Bata will give Tun M some free shoes after this...

For the longest time, we often see Dr Mahathir in the same kind of grey, black or khaki-coloured outfit that many from the younger generation don't recognise.

A younger Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tun M.
This fashion item is known as a bush jacket or safari jacket, which was originally designed for those going into the safari in the African bush. It is known for its lightweight material, shoulder straps and bellow pockets that make it look like a uniform.

This outfit is a trademark which Dr Mahathir has kept since the first time he became the Prime Minister of Malaysia in the 1980s.

So when Tun M whips out his bush jacket, you know he means business. As Twitter user @1Obefiend says, it's like watching the Avengers put on their superhero costumes before going into battle.

So it's safe to say that Tun M just made these items look cool again, don't you think?
